Mamak was another place that kept on popping up on lists for cheap tasty eats. They specialize in Malaysian roti and satays. There’s two other locations (Chatswood and one even in Melbourne).
I dropped in to try their speciality on a mid Wednesday afternoon. The place was busy but I was able to grab a table with ease.
They have lunch specials (weekdays only) that seemed quite reasonable ($12.50 to 14.50 AUD). The main menu is broken into roti (savoury and sweet), mains, rice + noodles, desserts and drinks.
– Roti canai ($7.50 AUD) – original roti with two curry dips and a side of spicy sambol sauce. The traditional curry sauce was good; spicy and creamy. The lentil sauce paled in comparison. The spicy sambol added the slightest bit of heat to it. Wish the roti was more crispy and flaky but it was respectable. A bit of a small portion though.
Decent but I wasn’t blown away by their roti canai.
